Great Read:
Not only is this book gorgeous, but the content of the book is very good. I had never read it before, but some one told me to give it a try and I am glad I listened. It is one of the best books I have ever read.
I Will Change my Life:
I still see those three grave stones in my mind. Two covered with grass -- one newly turned. I must change my life.
Movies don't do this masterpiece justice:
I love this book and have read it multiple times. To call it melodramatic is to misunderstand the period in which it was written, is to oversimplify it without critically assessing it, and is to mistakenly compare it to current novels. It's apples vs. oranges! One thing that I've always admired is Bronte's use of the letter-within-a-letter framing device; it helps establish the multiple voices of the novel and must've been quite innovative for its time. Wuthering Heights:
Wow. I actually really liked this book. It wasn't flawless, but was certainly enjoyable for a classic. The Things I Didn't Like:
1. The narration. It was just a mess. It would be a narration inside a narration inside a narration. I had no idea who the "I" was whenever it was mentioned. And I just find it a tad bit unbelievable that Nelly Dean was a witness to it all.
